Lenten Reflections
FRIDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK OF LENT, MARCH 24, 2023
By Jordan Condon, Resident Director
This is one of the most beautiful Psalms to take hold of, especially in the season of Lent while we mourn a Savior. We all have hearts that have been broken. As Christians we know that the Lord is always true to the promises He makes his people. We know that He is close to us especially in our desperate times of need.
We are heard.
We are rescued, by the one who loves us the most.
We are free from bondage and shame.
We are redeemed.
The verse from Matthew essentially sums up the meaning of Lent to me. We do not live on bread alone, and by giving up something important in our life we have to lean on our dependance to the Lord even more so. We have to seek Him through the Word that nourishes our souls and our spirits.
In today’s gospel from John we can see how Jesus truly does trust the perfect timing of God in not initially traveling to Judea when his brothers tell him to. I pray that if you are in a season where you may be struggling to trust God with an area of your life that you find peace in the surrender.
Jesus speaks to every heart, “You know me and also where I am from”. Our Savior not only is always inviting us to Himself, but tells us we already know Him because He is the one who created us. In the depth of every person is a longing to know our Creator; to know our purpose. We know Him through the flowers blooming on the Hilltop in the Spring. We know Him through the beautiful sunrises across campus each morning. We know Him through the love we share with each other in this special community. He is with us always.
