PAIRING 5:

Omer Lassonde, Tetuan, Morocco, oil on canvas, 1960. (left)

Fairfield Porter, The Table, color lithograph, 1971. (right)

"There is a sort of geometric and spatial peace in this pairing. Both works play with neutral colors and brighter accents, creating a compelling give and take of light and color. As in one of the earlier pairings, the works look as if they could occupy the same space; you can almost envision walking through a doorway in the left-hand work into a room occupied by the table on the right."
